Paul Cordopatis is Professor and Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Patras, Greece.

Born, 1 April 1947, Athens, Hellas; Married, two children.

Education: Faculty of Chemistry, University of Patras, University Diploma (1971); Doctoral Diploma (1976, Thesis Preceptor, Professor D. Theodoropoulos); Habilitation in Peptide Chemistry (1981). Professional Training and Academic Appointments: In 1974 he was appointed to the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Patras as Research and Teaching Assistant; Senior Research and Teaching Assistant (1976); In 1977 he joined the group of Biological Chemistry at the University of Mons/Belgium (Prof. J. Dirkx, Dr. J. Brison) and then the group of Dr. S. Fermandjian at the Department of Biochemistry of CEN Saclay/France (1979) where he worked as Research Fellow; In the Faculty of Chemistry/University of Patras he occupied successively posts of Privat Docent (1981), Assistant Professor (1982) and Associate Professor (1986); Visiting Scientist to Basel Institute for Immunology/Switzerland (1987); In 1988 he was appointed to the School of Pharmacy/University of Patras as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Chemistry of Natural Products (Unit of Synthetic Peptides).

At present he acts as: Head, Faculty of Pharmacy and Senator, University of Patras (1993-2003, 2007 - ); Representative of Greece to the European Peptide Society, Member, EPS-Council and EPS Executive Committee; Member, Executive Committee of the Hellenic Open University; Member, National Scientific Council for Medicines Approval; Member, National Chemical Council; Member, Bioethics Commission, Ministry of Development; Secretary Gen., "Leonidas Zervas" Foundation Council; Founding member of the Hellenic Peptide Society. Representative, COST Action of the E.U; Member of several scientific societies, councils and committees; Chairman, Committee of the University of Patras Central Library; Editor, "The European Peptide Society Newsletter"; He is Editorial Advisor to the "Journal of Peptide Science", "Ars Pharmaceutica" and to several national Journals (Pharmakeftiki, Pharmaceutical Chronicles, Medicum, Hellenic Medical and Pharmaceutical Review, Med. Reviews, Bio, Review of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics); He is the Chairman of the biennial International Conference "Hellenic Forum on Bioactive Peptides" which, since 1996, is organized in Patras under the auspices of the European Peptide Society and the "Leonidas Zervas" Foundation. Participation in 110 international and national conferences; Editor, author or co-author of 8 books and 370 scientific papers in international journals and conference proceedings and 260 articles in national journals and books, in the field of design, synthesis and structure – activity relationships of bioactive peptides.
